Students apply interdisciplinary perspectives to the study of the interpersonal and organizational dynamics of the contemporary workplace. Topics of inquiry include employer-employee relations, racial and ethnic considerations, gender issues, management styles, labor relations and labor market policy, business ethics, and public bureaucracy in the policy process. Graduates from this concentration often pursue professional employment in personnel and human resource management, personnel relations, employee assistance and benefits, industrial and business arbitration, public administration, union organization, personnel recruitment and training, and in various management and program development areas. The concentration provides a strong background for individuals who want to pursue graduate study in labor and industrial relations, human resources, and other related social science and business fields.
